
Zech 1: 11-15
Excerpt: …The Holy Spirit well knew of their ordination historically, and He desired the fruition of the promises of their redemption. Thus, only now are we challenged to graduate in theology to analyze the Holy Spirit’s reaction.He interrupted His work with Zechariah and turned to Jesus for explanation about Christian lethargy towards America’s slaves. Thus, immediately after the 1844 announcement of the horses, we can now read about heaven’s answer to His distress: “ 11 And (the horses) answered the angel of the LORD … and said … the earth sitteth still, and is at rest. 12 Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts (Jesus), how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem … 13 And the LORD (Christ)answered the angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words. 14 So the angel that communed with me said unto me (to Zechariah, not the horses), Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy. 15 And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.” —Zech 1: 11-15. Here we have it: direct proof that the Comforter is a real personality; as shown by the fact that, to allay His distress, He did not argue with Himself! He is not deranged! Immediately after the horses’ declarations, the Angel of the Lord turns to One called the Lord of Hosts or to Jesus for the answer…
