This Sabbath School study delved deeper into Atonement Theology. It held fast to its title by showing the chronological order of the Sin Offerings. More was cited to show why the Sin Offering of Atonement applies —not to Calvary but— to the Church’s standing 2000 years after Calvary. Again, it reflects the Church’s teachings of Jesus’ sacrifice —not just the actual event of crucifixion— for if men are not compelled to believe it, then Calvary would have no efficacy. The compulsion to teach of Jesus becomes the disciples work as mandated by Matt 28: It then is the blood/work of the metaphoric bullock. Also, the reality of sacrifice was defined: It is Jesus’ invalidation of the efforts/work of His end-time ministry, aka their blood. Those living leaders are differentiated from yesterday’s deceased Christians today in the Judgment of the Living. Why, because the measuring standard of truth has matured. Therefore, though they now stand on the entirety of the years of Christian work, they are denied kingdom entry; they are sacrificed for rejecting the fullness of the gospel as urged upon them. The reality of the Bullock sacrifice then points to the day when Jesus, represented by Aaron enshrouded in holy linen, withdraws all His graces from the gentile ministry: Though they continue to represent him as His disciples, they did not keep His sayings.
Micah two was revisited to deepen this theme. It shows more of the Lord’s rejection of His Davidian Adventist ministry because they did not “keep knowledge”, a duty cited as key requirement for the Lord’s priest. This being the case, He curses their blessings. What was most sobering is our finding or our novel conclusion that knowledge is biblically defined to be their blessing. It was a blessing because no other theologians could refute it. Thus, the gift of the Lord’s new light to the Adventist laity, light that easily defeats their bodacious claims of doctrinal superiority, is tantamount to cursing their blessings, their formerly lofty and inspired theology. This being done by the Rod, aka, the Lord’s voice, their fortresses collapse. Some examples are their vegetarianism, their narrow concept of the Sabbath, their partial themes of the 2nd coming, even their partial understanding of the Atonement, of the Three Angel’s Messages, etc. But most notably, is their doctrine of the Trinity. Because they rejected the name of the Lord as declared by this ministry, all their pillars, like a carpet, have been pulled from under their feet. Such is represented by Aaron slaying the unblemished bullock, the gentile ministry; this is done because they have, as equally defined in the atonement sacrament, denied or sacrificed Jesus, the He goat: They have crucified Him afresh.
What is most remarkable is that newly established doctrinal complexity, which I call polynomial theology, shines forth: It expresses a reality of a deepening dimension of Bible themes that, though the former dimension was indeed irrefutable yesterday by Adventist enemies, the new light outshines her prior doctrines today. This gives at least two pinnacles to a doctrine. Both are salvational by virtue of their Bible foundation, the pivot point depends upon the classroom level. In other words, one’s reaction in the time that the Bible truth is revealed determines their fidelity to the Gospel. Thus, with the leaders of the church, aka the “priest’s” who failed to advance to the new and higher doctrine, their house which has been erected on the prior doctrines, collapses or withers under the brilliant sheen of the newly revealed light. And, refusing to advance in their journey of truth, they stand naked and without the shelter of their religious garb. Such is the meaning of the Lord cursing their blessing.
It is a remarkable glory because it shows how God grows us to mature in faith by communicating doctrine on multiple levels, allowing the truth to get deeper and deeper. Thus, the SDA Church cannot stand in the day of advanced light by a reliance on yesterday’s manna or doctrine. Those faithful who have died under the umbrella of yesterday’s less sophisticated light, one comparable in faintness to a candlelight, can indeed find passage in the atonement or judgment of the dead; yet, those who are living in the day of transition, when the high beams of elucidation are radiated, upon rejection, they are cut off. Thusly are their blessing now cursed —the Lord rejects them.
This is my major take away from this lesson. Be sure to make occasion to partake in our next lesson.
