2Sam 7: 4-17

Excerpt:…All the while Christ, the source of Jesus’ power, was never so accredited. But not to worry, Julia Ward Howe confirms my report: Our eyes shall see these glories again. In this we can understand the Lord’s rebuff to David. The Prophet says, “  And it came to pass that night, that the word of the LORD came unto Nathan, saying, 5 Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the LORD … Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in… Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in? 6Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle. 7 In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel spake I a word … saying, Why build ye not me an house of cedar? … 11 … the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee an house. 12 And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever. 14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men … 16 And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy (p3)throne shall be established for ever.” —2Sam 7: 4-17. Eternal kingship is not vested in the literal man, David, but in the relay of his throne to his son by genetic descendantcy, 100 generations in his future. He is the David who defines the Lord’s name; he brings salvation: the glory of the Lord’s creation. Ancient David then was promised to be king forever under the auspices of this abstract concept: His throne shall endure forever. Be no longer obtuse; read the fine print: as reiterated from 2Sam 7. The Lord said to David, “I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever…16 And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee”. For the throne to be established forever before David, a time after he dies, could only mean that David will be resurrected to see the glory of His son…yes, His eyes shall also see the glory of the coming of the Lord. If he can rejoice, so are you expected to do likewise….
