John 6:47-51
Excerpt: So to comply, we must hear David’s voice, this voice, the message of the Mustard Seed that is extended to the sheep of the Lord. It is a message that challenges the gentile church’s beliefs. How difficult could that, be I ask, seeing that Paul calls it labor? To Answer, look how difficult it was for the Hebrews to believe Christ. He liberated from slavery hundreds of thousands yet, when time came to rest, how many of their elders entered? Only two, Caleb and Joshua could cast aside their ancestral dogma to receive the Lord’s manna. Those under 21, the Children of Israel who actually did enter did so only by the grace extended because of their youthfulness: They thereby were deemed innocent —not righteous. Christ defines the terms of our entry today when He said, “ 47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. 48 I am that bread of life. 49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven …” —John 6: 47-51. Christ came down from heaven and clandestinely hid upon Jesus to —by quietude— declare through Him the Testimony from the Father. So, be it not mistaken: Failure to teach that the very Bread from heaven was actually doctrine of God veiled by Jesus’ flesh, and that those words made plainly today we must consume to bring to us our rest or peace, I say that the failure to teach this will thwart our redemption. Our Sabbath Rest must come by the assimilation this strong meat. But Why call it David’s rest!? — because David was the son of man, the Lord of the Sabbath…
