Zech 1: 14-17
Excerpt: … Our last study gave merely a clue to this finding. It showed the Holy Spirit’s efforts to reverse gentile affliction against —not just the SDA Church but also— against Jerusalem, America’s former slaves. He, with Jesus’ expressed authorization, commanded to Zechariah this new aspect of the Gospel. Requoting a snippet from Zech one, it says, “ 8 … and behold a man riding upon a red horse … and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white. 10 And (they) … said … We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest. 12 Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts (Jesus), how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem … 14 So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts … 15 And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction. 16 Therefore thus saith the LORD; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem. 17 Cry yet, saying … the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.” —Zech 1: 14-17. Jesus, having never preexisted before the day of His conception, did not know of Jerusalem; thus, He, Jesus, consulted with Christ, the God —not of the gentiles but— of the Hebrews. And he speaks of the day of Micah’s prophecy when David shall feed in the Lord’s strength. Therefore, the relay message from the Comforter to Zechariah likewise expressed this addendum to the Gospel declaration: the new message declaring that the Lord, meaning Christ, will build His house on Jerusalem; ergo, Zechariah was elected to Cry, “ the LORD shall yet … choose Jerusalem,” he also must be the ruler of Israel, the man who comes from Adventism in the day of …
